However, before you reuse amber colored glass bottles, first make sure they have been cleaned and prepared for their next assignment.
Step 1: Remove the label
You’ll want to remove the label, and eventually affix a new one to identify the amazing mix you’ve come up with. This can be done by either filling a bucket or the sink with warm soapy water. Before dropping in a bottle, remove the droplet top, and fill the bottle with warm water. Put the lid back on the bottle, then let it sit in the warm soapy water for 15-30 minutes.
The labels we use on the TLEO collection are hardy, and it is important to give them enough time for the soapy water to soak through. This will help when you’re ready to remove them. Once it has soaked, grab one of the bottles and roll it between your thumb and forefinger. The label should slide off. If it is still difficult to remove, let it sit for a few more minutes.
A couple of things to consider during this process: It’s important to leave the lids on the bottles while they soak. Secondly, once you remove the label, you’re likely to find an adhesive left behind on the bottle. Don’t worry, TLEO can help!
TLEO DIY Adhesive Remover
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon TLEO Fractionated Coconut Oil
3-5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil (or Orange or Lime)
Mix well in a glass or other nonreactive bowl.
Place a pinch of the paste on a wet paper towel or rag and gently rub the bottle until the adhesive is removed.
Step 2: Clean the inside of bottles
You’ll want to make sure any and all residual essential oil is cleaned from the interior of the bottles before reusing them. First, make sure all parts of the bottle have been removed. That means the lid, droplet top, and, if you’re cleaning other glass bottles such as TLEO Amber Mini Mist Bottles or TLEO Amber Spray Bottles, make sure all components have been removed from those glass bottles as well.
Once the bottles are ready for cleaning, fill a bowl or sink with hot water (dishwashing hot, but not scalding). Add some dish soap and agitate to ensure the soap is mixed in well. Place all the empty bottles – this time without their lids – in the water. Make sure they fill up and are completely submerged. Let the bottles soak for no less than 10 minutes, or up to 20 minutes.
For the TLEO Amber Accessories Spray Pump, the droplet top from inside the bottle’s opening, and any other trigger spray pumps among the TLEO Amber Accessories, let them soak in the soapy water, too. Rinse them thoroughly and move them to soak in clean hot water. Run clean, hot water through the tubes and functioning heads of the spray pumps and mist pumps to remove residual soap or oil.
To scrub each bottle clean, use a micro or mini brush and clean them inside and out. Move the scrubbed bottles to a new vessel with clean, hot water – the other side of a two-part sink, or in a different container or bucket. Let them soak while scrubbing the rest of the bottles.
Once each piece has been scrubbed, rinsed, and soaked take them out of the water and gently dry with a clean towel or reusable microfiber cloth.
It is important to make sure the interior of the bottles is completely dry, free of any remaining water. This can be done by shaking out as much of the water as possible and then letting them air dry, then giving them one last swipe with a clean cloth.
Now your TLEO collection’s sustainable, reusable, recyclable TLEO Amber Bottles and <TLEO Amber Accessories> are ready to go, again and again.
