Step out of the status quo of cleaners and learn to rely on the power of Mother Nature around your home – inside and out! We all want to safeguard our families from the health worries at the forefront of our minds nowadays, and that shouldn’t take a lot of worrying about what’s in our cleaning supplies.
Did you know a tried and true fabric softener is as simple as adding 15-20 drops of a favored scent to 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar and adding it to your fabric softener dispenser? It’s so easy – and using essential oils in your cleaning at home (or relaxing at home) keeps it simple, because the swiping, spritzing, and scrubbing is enough work!
And remember, while you’re swiping, spritzing, and scrubbing, don’t forget you’re getting an aromahhhhhh-therapy session to boot.
Pro tip: Some of our “In the Home” recipes call for vodka as a carrier. That’s because water – any kind of moisture – is not a friend to fabrics (think: mold.) when you’re spritzing linens, pillows, or fabric furniture for a purifying boost. Alcohol dissipates quickly and is great for propelling essential oils into the air without causing harm.
Also remember, we generally don’t recommend using undiluted essential oils on any surface. If you do must, always test an inconspicuous area first. Some citrus oils and eucalyptus have been known to strip the varnish off wood furniture.
TLEO Home Care Kit Disinfectant
Add 2 cups distilled water and 1/2 cup white vinegar in a TLEO Amber Glass Large Spray Bottle (16 oz.), plus about 10 drops of each of the TLEO Home Care Kit oils: TLEO Guardian Blend; TLEO Lemon; TLEO Orange. Mix well. Apply essential oil disinfectant spray and wipe on/off areas that need disinfection, from the nursery to the bath to kids’ toys.
TLEO Too Bold for Mold – Air Purifying Booster
Add 6-8 drops of any of these top antimicrobial, antifungal air-purifying essential oils – TLEO Eucalyptus; TLEO Tea Tree; TLEO Grapefruit; TLEO Lime; TLEO Lemon; TLEO Lemongrass; TLEO Orange; TLEO Peppermint; TLEO Ylang Ylang Complete (just 4 drops needed) – to 1/2 cup distilled water and 1/2 cup witch hazel in a TLEO Amber Glass Spray Bottle (8 oz.). Mix clean home diffuser blend well. Spritz around any room to enliven and purify the atmosphere. Note: Any of these TLEO scents can be diffused into a room for the same effect.
A TLEO Favorite: Streak-Free Glass Blaster
Add 2 cups water to a nonreactive bowl or large jar, plus 1/4 cup white vinegar and 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol. Add 1 Tablespoon cornstarch, then 10 drops of your favorite TLEO scent – we love TLEO Lavender. Mix well and pour (enough to fill) into a reusable TLEO Amber Glass Large Spray Bottle (16 oz.). Mist onto dingy glass shower doors, mirrors, picture frames, and windows, and let it work for a minute. If needed, use a stiff-bristled scrubbing brush to break up persistent, pesky water stains and soap residue, spraying more glass cleaner as you go. Wipe clean with a reusable microfiber cloth or a squeegee.
