“Having fun we get more work done.”
It’s already Wednesday; thankfully, we are halfway done with this darn week. I can’t wait until Friday so the weekend can start and we can finally have some fun. I mean, whos idea was this whole work thing anyway!
That doesn’t sound like me, does it? No way, I love every day, and I think every day is fun. I do realize, though, that most people hate Mondays and have convinced themselves that they have to wait until the weekend to have fun. Then when the weekend comes to a close, they get depressed just thinking about Monday.
I absolutely know this is true because I have been there. Then one day, I finally got the courage to walk away from what was holding me back and step into what I was destined to do. It wasn’t easy, and looking back, I wish I would’ve done it much sooner, but I was worried about money. I was also worried about failing, which of course, also means I was worried about money.
I had no idea that walking away from one thing and stepping into another would help me acquire something that money can’t buy. I found love and fun in every single day of the week, something that I had never had before. I had always been a positive person, and I had always loved having fun.
I just thought that it was impossible to have fun every day and all week long. I mean, we had to work or go to school, and until those things were over, fun was just not gonna happen. This was definitely the wrong mindset, and I cringe when I think of all the years that passed and how every week I would delay my fun or allow my mood to be affected by the Monday lows and the Friday highs.
I didn’t know any better back then, but now I do! It is possible to have fun all the time. It is possible to love Mondays and have it be one of your favorite days of the week, and it is possible to have fun every day.
Some statistics say that up to 85% of us dislike our jobs and since we spend a lot of time at our jobs that actually means 85% of us dislike our lives and that is no fun! A job is actually a blessing, it can help us buy things or have access to things that many people can only dream of, yet we take that for granted. We have been taught that work sucks and we can only have fun when work is done, but we have been taught wrong.
You might not love your job, but that does not mean you have to be miserable. You can still have fun no matter what. Make some friends there, make people laugh, or try to find a way to do something in that workplace that you are passionate about, even if it’s for free. We have been delaying our fun for years, and it’s just not good! Have fun today, have fun every day.
Life is too darn short to wait for the weekend to have fun or even smile. Start living a fun and happy life now, not later. Once you start having fun at work, even if you don’t really like your work, you will notice that it’s easier to go to work and get work done while you are there. Having fun should not be an option; it should be mandatory.
At TLC, we have it as one of our seven core values, we want our family here to live by these core values, and this one is deeply rooted in our history. We not only encourage fun, we actually give the direction every day. Even before TLC was launched, Jack Fallon and I would have fun at our factory job. I always remember that even though it wasn’t something we enjoyed, we had each other, and that was all we needed to have fun.
We always found a way to laugh and enjoy the day, even if going in was hard. The other employees and even the management always thought we were strange because we were always smiling and laughing and they just didn’t think it was normal for us to be that happy in a factory, but they didn’t know what we knew!
We were happy and having fun because we chose to, and many people still don’t realize that they can be happy and have fun too; they just have to choose to. Many years later, a company called TLC was launched, and one of the main directions given to its employees around the world was and still is, HAVE FUN!
I hope this week’s message really helps inspire you to look for ways to have fun in. places where you think it’s not possible because it is. I want each and every one of you to love every day of the week, not just the weekends, and it can start this week by having fun today!
Thank you for reading this every week, and may God bless you. Please pray for Ukraine if you can and for world peace.
