“Having Fun We Get More Work Done.”
Having fun, we feel like doing more work. That’s how I’m choosing to reword this core value this week!
It’s been a rough year for many, including me. In addition to our personal battles, there are many additional issues that exist in the world today. Wars, inflation, recession, debates on controversial topic debates, and many other things have made us all feel sorta blah about everything!
I didn’t really notice the blah part until the last couple of months. It seems that most of us can’t find the motivation to do what really need to do. Working, taking care of our health, and tending to our relationships are among the things that we don’t seem to be doing as well as we should, at least from my observation.
I really do think that the stress, anxiety, and pressure that we have all felt over the last two years have had one major impact on us that we all share: The world is just not as fun as it used to be. Recently, I realized that if we do our part, we can make a difference.
One major thing I have noticed this year is that many have lost interest in working or earning money, even though they really need to! It has been hard to watch and even harder to understand, but this week, I feel like I may have realized why. We are just not having fun!
What made me realize this? The “We’ve Got Your Back” program we just launched at TLC last week. This program allows current Life Changers whose accounts have become inactive to re-activate for free. (It usually costs $60-80!) The program also allows brand new people to join us for about $30 (usually around $120-140).
What has been the response? As of Tuesday, we have had 11,000 people reactivate and 9,000 people start new with us. That is a total of 20,000 people in just 5 days! That is one heck of an impressive response, but the best part is not the interest shown; it’s the fun! Of course, everyone is excited to join and re-join, but what is really happening is that people are having fun.
That includes everyone, not only new and returning Life Changers, but also the team here at TLC. The customer service staff, the executives, the marketing team, the UX/IT teams: really, just everyone! We have all been having more fun, which has made us all feel like going to work and actually look forward to it.
It has reminded me that we all have many reasons to do things, but if it’s been a long time since we’ve had fun, then we need to do something to spice it up! This is true not only for business but for relationships, family, workout routines, yard work, running errands, helping our kids with homework, and any other things we need to do. If it’s been a long time since any of that was fun, then we will not want to do it, or we will go through the motions. That is just BLAH!
I say no more BLAH! Let’s figure out how to have fun again! Of course, we have things to do and responsibilities to take care of, but last time I checked, there is no law against having fun! There is, however, a fact of life that reminds us that human life is short, and we should enjoy each day. Let’s look for ways to have fun whenever and as often as we can. It will make us feel like doing what we need to do!
I am not sure about all of you, but I am done with blah! I’m looking to have fun and, of course, get more work done from now on! What about you? Thank you for reading and have a great week! God bless you!
