Core Value Blog Post: “Passion Is Our Fuel.”
We have been busy, busy, busy! Thank you to all of you that have continued to work hard to support every call, email, and every shipment. You are all amazing!
Many of you are aware that the last 120 days have been very challenging, and many of you, including me, have worked extra days and weekends. We have sacrificed sleep and family time, but we kept focused one day at a time, and we kept going! The secret is the passion we have for what we do.
In the last few weeks, I was asked a few times by a few different people about my energy levels. It seems many were wondering what my secret is to keep up with all the work commitments and still somehow have energy all the time. I shared with them, and I will share with you now the ‘secret.’ PASSION! That is it, that is the secret!
A quick look around the TLC world, and you will see that there are people that just never stop. I do not even have to mention them here by name. You all know who they are, and they know who they are. They have a Passion for TLC and helping others that live deep inside their bones. This passion is the only fuel they need to not only keep going but keep smiling and shining and being superheroes!
This passion is not born on day one of your TLC journey or maybe not even in year one. Shoot, if you follow my path, it may take you several years to develop this passion, but I promise you when you do, everything will change, and you will be unstoppable. The day it happens, you will know, you will feel different, and you will transform the same way Clark Kent became Superman in the movie because YOU HAD TO, to save the day! Do you see where I am going with this?
Clark Kent needed to turn into Superman to save OTHERS, not himself. That is the real secret. Include OTHERS in your goals, dreams, and aspirations. If your goals only include you, then you will do just enough to satisfy you. We are typically very forgiving of ourselves, but when you involve others in your goals, you have created a never-ending goal that will keep you fueled up forever!
Examples? When you are a teenager, and your goals are school and going to parties you end up sleeping 12 hours on some days, but when you’re an adult and get married and have kids you can’t do that, they depend on you, and you know it, and suddenly you have the energy you need. Same with being a manager or leader. When you are not the one ‘in charge,’ it’s easier just to do your daily tasks and get on with your day, but when you become a leader, you realize that your responsibilities are to others, and now you are working for them not you.
That is what TLC is about, our goal starting with Jack Fallon and company-wide is to help OTHERS, that is the key. If we are helping as many people as possible around the entire world make a total life change, then we have a lot of work to do! With 7 billion people in the world, we have a finish line that we can only get closer to each day but never cross, but because our passion is people and others, we will have the fuel we need to keep running this marathon we call TLC.
If you don’t feel like you have found a true passion in your personal life or TLC yet, it’s ok; it doesn’t just happen because you say so. It happens over time. It’s like working out and getting healthy. If you go workout today for 4 hours, it does not mean you are in good shape, but if you work out 30 minutes today and continue doing that five days a week at some point in the future, you will be in great shape. I don’t know how long that takes precisely, but I know it will happen, and along the way, your passion keeps you fueled!
As always, thanks for reading!
