Have you ever wondered what the benefits of cranberries are? We’ve put together three of the top benefits of cranberries and how you can apply them to your daily life.

Cranberries are native to North America and are considered a “superfood” due to their high antioxidant content. They are low in calories, high in vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin K, and many more nutrients. They are also high in antioxidant proanthocyanidins, which are very helpful for preventing bacteria adhesion. Find out below how cranberries can keep you healthy.

1. UTI Prevention

The first benefit of adding cranberries to your diet is that they can potentially prevent urinary tract infections, or UTIs. The high level of antioxidant proanthocyanidins (PACs) in cranberries reduces certain bacteria from adhering to the urinary tract walls, which prevents infection.

2. Nutrition

The second benefit of cranberries is the number of nutrients that are packed into a single food – making it a superfood. Cranberries contain vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, and vitamin K. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, which blocks free radicals, improves iron absorption, boosts the defense system, and aids in collagen production, which helps wound healing. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps limit free radical production and also aids in defense system enhancement. Vitamin K supports strong bones, helps enhance cognitive health, and prevents mineralization in the arteries.

3. Dental

The third benefit of cranberries is that they may also prevent cavities. Cranberries can disrupt the building block of plaque known as glucan. This then prevents the bacteria that plaque is composed of from adhering to the tooth surface.
