“Passion is our fuel.”
More than 20 years ago, something happened that changed my life. What was it, you might ask? Well, the simple answer is PASSION. About 23 years ago, passion happened within someone I knew, and it changed my perspective immediately. Later on, it changed my life. Allow me to explain:
I was friends with a guy named Jack in the 1990s. I met him at my job at Ford Motor Company. We became friends there and talked about many things over the years. We shared our likes, dislikes, goals, dreams, and even our fears, among other things.
Whenever we talked about the goals and dreams we had, my friend Jack usually ended up talking about network marketing—or MLM, as some call it. He always told me that it was going to be his ticket to success, and he tried telling me that if I plugged into it, I could also find success through network marketing.
He talked about the positive and goal-oriented people who were involved and how beneficial it was to be surrounded by them. He talked about the potential to earn income beyond what we earned at Ford, and he even mentioned the freedom it would provide. I was not buying it though! To me, it sounded like a scam, and I would frequently tell him to stop.
I actually wanted him to fail at his network-marketing side hustle just so I could say “I told you so.” He continued to talk to me and try to get me inspired about this for many years with no success, until one day, the PASSION happened.
One day out of nowhere, my friend Jack approached me and started sharing something with me. For the first time in more than five years, I listened instead of begging him to stop. What did he tell me, you might ask? Well, it’s not just what he told me but how he told me that is most important.
Jack told me about an idea he had. It was a liquid multivitamin that would help millions of people around the world feel great and be healthy. He wanted to figure out how to get it made, and he wanted to provide it to people at an affordable price. Here is the thing though… It’s not what he said; it’s how he said it.
Jack shared all of this with me with such passion and enthusiasm. He was so excited that he barely took a breath while he spoke for several minutes about it. This passion was something that, for the first time in many years, actually got me to stop and listen to Jack. Not only did it get me to listen, but it also helped me decide that I wanted him to succeed instead of wanting him to fail as I had so many times before.
That moment would go on to change my life; I just didn’t know it yet. I would eventually join Jack a few years after the launch of his idea, NutraBurst®, and start helping him ship and eventually promote it and the business attached to it. I never wanted to do it or even visualized myself ever doing it, but that passion, man. It stopped me in my tracks, and I wanted to be a part of it.
Eventually, it helped me realize that I was really passionate about helping people, and what Jack had introduced me to (network marketing) would allow me to do that frequently. I was hooked then, and I still am now. How did it all start? Passion!
What are you trying to accomplish in life? Are you passionate about it? I am certain that if you have big goals and dreams, you are going to need some help achieving them. And if you are going to find some people to help you, people to sell to, or people to support you, then you’d better have one thing for sure: PASSION!
That’s all you need. The plan, the strategy, the money, and everything else you need, you can figure out later. But you’d better have the passion figured out right now! Make sure you tell people what you are passionate about frequently and with enthusiasm so the rest of us can be inspired!
