“We love each other, period.”

Happy Valentine’s week, everyone! This week most of the world celebrated Valentine’s Day. Romantic couples celebrated with flowers, going out to dinner, or buying gifts. Parents and grandparents bought candy for the kids. Many children exchanged valentines cards with their friends.

There were many things done in the name of love this week, and it’s great. Part of me, though, also wishes that we didn’t need a holiday to remind us to do nice things for others. I mean, what’s gonna happen on February 15 and February 16 and so on?

Will we still express our love with these actions and flowers and gifts? Probably not; most of us will wait until the next special day to do these things. Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying that this is wrong; I’m just saying that this is the way we have been taught to express love for others.

I believe somewhere along the way; we were not reminded that love doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. We don’t have to express it with flowers or gifts or a night out. We can express love every single day, and it won’t cost a penny.

Love and showing love are simpler than most people think. A simple hello to a stranger or giving a hug to a friend who is sad is love. Being patient with someone who has frustrated you is love. Forgiving someone who has wronged you is love. Love is basically just being kind to another human being. Any of us can do it, and it doesn’t cost us any money. We don’t even have to wait for a special occasion, we can do it every day.

Imagine a world where we show love and gratitude to our friends and family every day. Imagine if we also did the same for our coworkers, our neighbors, and even strangers. I think the world would be a much better place, don’t you? And I think we can both agree that this is exactly what’s needed if the world has any hope of becoming better in the future than it is now.

For a very long time, we have expressed love to the people around us only on special occasions. We have also spent the last several decades fighting and arguing with people who have different opinions than us. And we have also done a good job of ignoring strangers.

We have basically been doing the same thing as a society for a long time. Not much has changed, and the world has not become a better place; it has, in fact, become worse. I think most of us have heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I guess that means we are all insane!

It also means that there is hope! All we have to do is try something different. And the thing that is different than what has been going on for a long time is love. If we all just love, things can change. If we all just love all the time, things can permanently change. I truly believe this, and I hope you do too because we need change!

That’s the great news that I am sharing today! All we have to do is love our neighbor unconditionally, and that is a big change! And I think we all know if you want things to change in a big way, we have to make some big changes!

We love each other is a core value we live by here at TLC. Can you imagine a world that lives by it as well? I do, and I’m gonna do my part; how about you?

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you. I love you all and wish nothing but peace, prosperity, and joy in your life. I hope today you find it in your heart to show love to the people around you. I also hope that you do it every single day!

Thank you very much for reading today and every week. May God continue to bless you.
