“We love each other, period.”
It’s hard to believe that it’s the first week of November. There are less than 60 days left in the year. In a few short weeks, it will be Thanksgiving. After Thanksgiving, there will be holiday parties and, of course, Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. In the blink of an eye, it will be January 1, 2022.
As we look forward to the next 60 days, we are reminded that we will most likely spend lots of time with family and friends celebrating. We are also reminded and have come to accept that we don’t necessarily look forward to being with some of the people we will be spending time with during the holidays. It could be because of differences in opinion or arguments in the past.
Ultimately though, we accept that they are family or family friends, and we choose to approach the holidays with love in our hearts. Most of us are okay with it and do so every year. Whether it is the uncle who continues to remind us about everything we’re doing wrong in our life or the cousin that wants to argue with us about politics all the time, it doesn’t matter. We have learned to accept it because we are family and we love each other period. Sometimes we even buy those same people a gift because they are family.
I was thinking about this today and realized that when it’s family or friends, love allows us to accept it and approach it the right way. I also thought that if we could have the same attitude with strangers, it would make the world a much better place. Can you imagine what the world would be like if we all had love in our hearts towards each other?
I imagine a world where we are kind to each other. A world where we tolerate each other no matter what our differences are. I also see a world where everyone is not only accepted but celebrated as well. Not for being perfect or for being successful but for being precisely the person they are. You may be thinking to yourself that this is not possible. There is no way people of different religions, races, genders, political affiliations, or ideologies could ever get along and love each other, right?
I also used to think that it was not possible. The annual holidays prove that if we approach things with a pure heart, we can do anything. Now we have to include strangers or maybe people we don’t know so well, and we would have the whole world covered! We can do this, I am sure of it!
How am I so sure? It is happening right here at TLC right now! People from all walks of life and every corner of the earth prove this possible. Right here at TLC, we prove to the world that love can unite people and be the catalyst for inspiring them to help and celebrate each other.
