We know TLEO Eucalyptus and its penetrating, woody but lemony scent is beloved for promoting a sense of calm, soothing, and relief. But eucalyptus is a pro to bring along in the outdoors. And it’s milder than eucalyptus globulus oil, making it a great choice for those with skin sensitivities.
Bug bites? The CDC approves eucalyptus oil as an ingredient in insect repellents. Try your own homemade insect repellent: Mix 1 drop of TLEO Eucalyptus with 10 drops of witch hazel in a TLEO Amber Glass Spray Bottle (8 oz.) and shake gently together. Spray to apply. And about those bites: TLEO Eucalyptus helps diminish the appearance of inflammation or irritation of the skin. It promotes the appearance of improved skin after a wound. If you want quick help with feelings of relief from an itchy, swollen bug bite, just add 1 drop of TLEO Eucalyptus to anti-itch, antibacterial, or anti-inflammation cream or ointment before applying to skin. (Always be sure to dilute it before application.)
To support disinfecting and diminished appearance of irritation or abrasions to the skin’s surface, dilute 1-2 drops TLEO Eucalyptus into TLEO Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply to a cotton ball. Before applying, thoroughly clean the skin around the wound, then gently dab on the skin.
Eucalyptus is also valued in pharmaceutical application as a tick repellent – for humans. While studies suggest it’s effective for us, we’re not in the business of animal medicine, so we highly recommend you discuss its potential application on pets with your veterinarian or a licensed practitioner of animal medicine before considering.

DIY TLEO Eucalyptus Tick Taser
- Add 4 ounces of distilled water to a TLEO Amber Glass Spray Bottle
- Add about 18-20 drops of TLEO Eucalyptus and blend well
- Do a skin spot check, to make sure your skin doesn’t have a reaction
- Spray lightly on the skin before heading outdoors
- Spray the cuffs of your pants (all around your ankles) and your shoes
DIY TLEO Peppermint Sunburn Salvation
- Add 1-2 drops of TLEO Peppermint to liquid body soap on a body puff or a soft washcloth (don’t use any abrasives like loofah) in a lukewarm shower.
- Gently wash over sunburned skin and celebrate the near instant feelings of relief from that nasty uninvited UV sting.
- Rinse thoroughly. Repeat as needed until skin is noticeably feeling soothed.
DIY TLEO Guardian Blend Weed Waster
- Add 1-3/4 cups white vinegar, 1/4 cup liquid castile soap and 10-12 drops TLEO Guardian Blend to a TLEO Amber Glass Large Glass Spray Bottle
- Blend well
- Mist onto weeds and undesired plants only
Pro tip: If you’re going to take TLEO with you while you spend time outdoors, it’s great that our TLEO Amber Glass bottles block damaging sunlight and protect our 100% pure essential oils, but remember: Being in the heat or – especially – in direct sunlight will adversely affect the longevity of the oil. Be sure when you’re outside that your amber bottles are tucked away in a dark container that can keep them at cooler temperatures. Perhaps drop them in a cooler, but be careful to protect them by wrapping them in something like a microfiber cloth, and don’t leave the oils in an icy environment for too long.
