“Having fun, we get more work done.”
Having fun is something you will hear Mr. Jack Fallon remind you to do every day if you work at TLCHQ. Jack is always talking about making memories and figuring out how to have fun because life is short. He loves this core value and he reminds us almost every day that we should adhere to it.
Followers of our social media pages, attendees of TLC events, and customers are very aware that we encourage others to do so every day. We will continue to do this and always support because none of us are guaranteed tomorrow, so we should make today pleasurable.
This core value is always difficult for me to write about because I have said the same three things for years. This week, I was determined to find a new experience to further explain how powerful this core value is.
Creating A Work/Fun Balance
Let’s start with the core value statement itself first. When you read it to yourself and grow up in an era or a family similar to mine, then the core value will not make sense. I mean, how can you possibly have any fun and still get work done?
I remember growing up as a kid and helping with chores around the house. I also remember that if we were smiling or laughing, my dad assumed that we were screwing around and not working as hard, so we quickly learned the opposite.
In my dad’s mind having fun, we DIDN’T get more work done. So we worked silently and prayed for the minutes to pass quickly so we could be done! Those minutes seemed like hours and the hours seemed like days, and honestly, those chores were never done with much passion. We did not have fun, and the only thing we looked forward to was being done, so you can imagine the quality of work was not that great either.
I found that having fun is helping us get work done, helping the time pass, and helping us stay more focused. It appears there is a science behind having fun and getting more work done that may help bring even more credibility to the core value.
As I said earlier, I did some research about having fun and what sort of impact having fun has on all of us, and I found something that may or may not surprise you. There are health benefits of having fun, and there are several of them. Here are just a few that I think are very important.
Having fun helps with:
Reducing stress – Cortisol is a stress hormone; it leads to weight gain, and having fun reduces cortisol to lower levels which can potentially help us keep our weight and health in check!
Serotonin release – Having fun also increases serotonin which is a hormone that aids in sleep and regulates our body temperature and mood.
More energy – This one should not come as a surprise. When we sleep better, we have more energy.
Connecting with others – Enjoying activities and conversations with others, even if it’s while doing work. This gives us a feeling of meaningfulness and purpose.
Healing emotional wounds – Having fun can help us forget about unpleasant things that have happened to us or that we have been through. Helping us to create new memories, can help us stay focused on the positive in our life and make us happier.
There are many more benefits of having fun that I came across, and I could keep writing for hours. I thought it was very powerful as I was writing all of the benefits of having fun because all of these things help people make a change.
We have been saying it for years! Our community here can help people make a change and now we know why.
We believe in having FUN.
I don’t know about you, but all of those things seem like they would help someone find balance. Now I understand why people that join our community have improved health and increased self-esteem. It’s not just the products or the health tips; it’s the FUN we all have that is helping the world make a change.
I have a genuine love for people and helping them succeed in life. I realize that having fun is a huge part of that. I plan on having fun tomorrow and every day after that. I hope you do too! Plan on sharing that fun with others because life is too short not to smile every day!
Have a great week and thank you for reading, and remember to have FUN!
